On The Ground
Area 27 is located in the Southwest corner of Wyoming, bordered by the Utah state line near the town of Evanston. There is a decent sized population of moose, with trophy quality moose found throughout this area.
This unit has fair public access, with a lot of large private ranches to navigate around. Better hunting opportunities exist with the assistance of a professional outfitter.
Terrain
The terrain where moose will typically be found varies from beautiful creek bottoms with willow trees, to great open territory. This unit consists of sage brush covered mountains and draws, mixed with pockets of trees.

Vegetation
Rivers and streams have riparian habitat with willows, cottonwoods, shrubs, grasses and forbs. The vegetation in the mid elevations are rolling sagebrush ridges and draws. Native grasses, forbs and some sagebrush are found throughout mid elevations with a few pockets of aspen and pine.
Access
A lot of privately owned ranches makes this area challenging to navigate through, but there is a fair amount of public land also. Be prepared to access rough country, dirt roads or trails on this hunt. Hunting by vehicle is common in this area in order to cover a lot of open ground. Moose can be found throughout the unit, but some are found at lower elevations, making this hunt less physically demanding.

This area has lots of camping opportunities that can be found throughout the unit. Nearby towns can provide additional accommodations, services or supplies.
