On The Ground
This area can be found north of the Natrona and Johnson County Line and east of Washakie. There are typically a lot of mule deer in the Taylor Wildlife Habitat Management Area, with whitetails found closer to creeks and rivers. Access to public land is some areas here can be hard.For nonresidents, this area is part of Region Y and tags drawn for this area are also valid in: 24, 25, 27, 28, 30, 32, 33, 169
Mature mule deer and whitetail can be found in this area. Whitetails will usually be seen in the greener spots of grasses or crops, but most of these areas are on private land. Research before the season starts and try to get access to a private ranch near a creek bottom.
Terrain
South River, Poker Creek, Ghent, Hole-In-The Wall and Dry Vee are all in the eastern half of the unit. Some slopes here also have rugged rock outcroppings that can be rough for hunters here.

Vegetation
Sagebrush, mountain shrubs and grasslands of buffalo and blue grama make up most of the cover here. Pine, juniper, aspen, spruce and fir with cottonwood near creeks and rivers make up the majority of the rest of the area.
Access
Getting public access in this unit can be hard. County and secondary roads can be hard to get through in rain and snow. Four-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended here.

Camping and Lodging
Middle Fork Powder River has a developed campground, but there is no potable water. Kaycee is the closest town with limited lodging, restaurants, gas and diesel. Buffalo and Sheridan to the north along Interstate 25 have a lot of motels, restaurants, medical facilities and 24/7 gas stations.
