At a Glance
In the north part of the state, this unit has healthy herds of elk. This area can also prove difficult for hunters as the mountains are steep, but with much of the mountains in the Mount Naomi Wilderness, it has good public access.
Managed for trophy bulls, this unit offers hunters the chance at a good bull, but hunters should note that drawing a tag may take a few years. With limited tag numbers and a large unit, hunters can be selective when choosing a bull to harvest. A premium tag is available that allows hunting during all seasons.
Quick Tips
- Scout and learn the unit, it is big country
- Have a detailed map that shows road access
- Plan to hunt all or as much of the season as possible
- Good fishing in Bear Lake for a variety of fish
