This big unit is east of Idaho Falls and includes most of the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, a nuclear reactor testing site that is closed to hunting. Mostly composed of sagebrush flats and agricultural fields mule deer, whitetail deer, antelope and moose can be found here.
A small but healthy population of moose is found here. Private access will de a big issue in most areas but some public pieces are available to hunt on.
Most of this unit is composed entirely of high desert country mixed with private agricultural land and a few gently rolling hills. Glassing conditions are generally excellent here and hunters with good optics should be in good shape.
Mostly sagebrush and crops with some scattered junipers. Some marshes and willows are in the Mud Lake Wildlife Management Area which provide good moose habitat.
Public lands consist mostly of lands managed by the BLM. Hunters can reach primitive roads from Highway 26 in the south, Highways 33 and 20 near the center of the unit and Highway 22 in the north.
Lodging and KOA camping is available along the east boundary of the unit in Blackfoot, Idaho Falls and Dubois. Hunters may camp at Mud Lake and almost anywhere on BLM land. Modern lodging options and gear can be found in Idaho Falls locted in the southestern corner of the unit.
