Virtually 100 percent private land, mostly agricultural, and one of the smallest game units in the eastern plains.
There is good antelope hunting in the west and south. This unit is known for producing some big mule deer and trophy class whitetails though elk are scarce. Competition is fierce for hunting leases
Mostly level with some hills in the west. Dry creek beds run from south to north. The Arkansas River dominates the northern boundary.
Mostly shortgrass prairie with irrigated and dry farms. Some areas have pinyon pines, junipers and shrubs, and cottonwoods grow along and near the Arkansas River.
County roads crisscross the eastern part of the unit with limited county roads in the west.
Lamar has all services. Motels fill every season, so get reservations early or bring your RV and camp at Country Acres Motel and RV Park in Lamar.
