This unit runs from about 13 miles south of Seligman to the south end of the Santa Maria Mountains about 25 miles away. It has some big buck antelope, a few nomadic elk and some mule deer. Deeded land restricts access, but the state has negotiated public access on some private ranches allow public hunting.

This unit has a reputation for producing some big pronghorn antelope. Mule deer and elk also are hunted here. Antelope tags are few in number and hard to draw. Elk tag holders can hunt several units, but bulls are scarce. Mule deer are not typically large.

The northern half is almost entirely a 50:50 mix of federal and private land in a checkerboard pattern, while the southern half is mostly a solid block of the Prescott National Forest. Most of the land is grazed by cattle on large cattle ranches with open grassland and thick junipers that is generally flat. Some mesas, canyons and steep mountains with rough rocky terrain.

Large, open areas of chaparral and short grass with pinyon/juniper cover most of the unit with ponderosa pines, pinyons, junipers, alligator junipers and Gambel oak at high elevations.

The Prescott National Forest on the south half of the unit has good public access on dirt roads. Much of the unit is private ranch property with both limited and open access.

No campgrounds exist. Hunters camp along roads. Lodging can be found in Prescott, Bagdad and Seligman.
