Hunting for Wyoming’s Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep can be rough. The sheep areas in Wyoming are physically challenging and have populations of native bighorns. Even though trophy bighorn sheep are a possibility in Wyoming, hunters should not expect to harvest a book ram. Expect representative rams living in some of the most scenic terrain available. Wyoming has done a great job with management of the sheep herds, with the tag allocations reflecting that. A lot of resident and nonresident tags are available here, with Wyoming having more nonresident bighorn tags than any other state. There is an opportunity to draw for applicants with less than maximum preference points, since the draw system allocates 25% of the sheep tags to be drawn randomly. The other 75% are reserved for the applicants with the highest number of points within each hunt code.
** Units listed below may not have a current hunt for this species. Units in this table are included if any part of the unit is found within the county.
