Along with other species, Washington also offers once in a lifetime hunting opportunities for Rocky Mountain Goat. Mountain goat hunting is conducted with Special Permits only and all permits are either sex, although WDFW strongly recommends that hunters refrain from killing nannies. Overall, mountain goat populations are fairly stable and any hunters lucky enough to draw a tag will not find much trouble in locating animals to hunt. Historically speaking, Washington has long time been a producer of big mountain goats though this has somewhat dropped off in recent years. Still, hunters holding a tag can expect a good quality hunt with a decent amount of effort generally leading to opportunities at a good mature billies.
