A lot of hunters don’t think of Utah when they consider hunting antelope, but herds have been increasing for years, and trophy quality has been increasing. Residents may apply for a percentage of CWMU tags. Winners are allowed to hunt the private land in a CWMU at no charge. Most of the CWMU tags are used by guests or family members of landowners, and many are sold to hunters who pay for guided hunts. Antelope live in sagebrush habitat as well as deserts and grass rangeland mixed with dry farm or irrigated crops. Several areas hold healthy populations, including the Plateau unit north of the Boulder Mountains, the southwest desert and Daggett County. Some units have few antelope, but produce some great bucks.
