New Mexico is the only state that offers Oryx hunting. Oryx offer a unique experience in the deserts of New Mexico. Many of the managed hunts are conducted on the White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) and require hunters to take an orientation course prior to entering the field. Most of the Oryx tags are considered as once in a lifetime, but the broken horn, youth and off-range hunts are not classified as once in a lifetime. The off range hunts are challenging to find oryx and have low harvest success.
