As Colorado’s Shiras moose numbers continue to grow, new hunting units have been added to accommodate this growth. High harvest success across the state, with many bulls exceeding 40” wide. A weighted point system is in place for the moose drawing in Colorado. Under a weighted point system, an applicant is not eligible until they have accumulated three preference points. After having three preference points, and for each year you are unsuccessful in the drawing, you are given a weighted point. The more weighted points you have, the better your odds of drawing a tag. Moose tags are issued either for archery, muzzleloader, or rifle.
* Includes annual fishing license
All license fees include a $0.25 search-and-rescue fee and a $1.50 fee for the Wildlife Education Fund, if applicable.
** Units listed below may not have a current hunt for this species. Units in this table are included if any part of the unit is found within the county.
