Arizona is home to quality Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep hunting. Some of the units have offered hunting for several years, while others have recently opened. Rocky Mountain bighorns in Arizona can be hunted at much lower elevations than those found in other western states, but the terrain is still physically strenuous. Some rams exceed 180", with most reaching 165-175" range.
** Units listed below may not have a current hunt for this species. Units in this table are included if any part of the unit is found within the county.
Up to 10% of the overall number of sheep tags (Rocky and desert combined) are reserved for nonresidents
The most desired units are typically drawn by applicants with maximum bonus points
Nonresident applicants may only apply for units with two or more tags offered in the draw
Nonresidents rarely draw Rocky Mountain bighorn tags in Arizona
Bonus points can be used for either desert or Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep
You can mix Rocky Mountain and desert sheep choices on your application
Most of the sheep hunting will be physically strenuous so plan to be in shape
Only a few units in Arizona offer Rocky Mountain bighorn hunting
Some rams are harvested that score 170" Boone and Crockett
