Two lucky hunters will get a chance at hunting Nebraska bighorn sheep in 2021. This week, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved one lottery and one auction permit for the upcoming bighorn sheep season along with other regulation changes that apply to deer and elk.
According to the Omaha World Herald, here’s some of the new changes in store:
Nonresidents will need to pay a bit more as fees have been increased for small game, fish, deer, antelope and turkey permits as well as antelope applications and the Aquatic Invasive Species Stamp for nonresident boats.
For November firearm deer season, October antelope or muzzleloader season and any elk season, hunters will be allowed to check in their harvest by internet or telephone due to public health concerns.
No live baitfish will be permitted at Rock Creek Lake State Recreation Area, Dundy County; Avocet Wildlife Management Area, Grant County; Wilbur Reservoir, Saline County; Big Elk, Sarpy County; and West Papillion 6, Sarpy County.
Some hunting will be allowed in 2020 in Niobrara, Eugene T. Mahoney, Ponca, Indian Cave, Chadron, and Platte River state parks, and Ash Hollow, Rock Creek Station and Fort Atkinson state historical parks.
