If you want another chance at hunting elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, or Gould’s turkeys in Arizona, you’re in luck. The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) just opened an additional chance to draw a tag – but you only have until 5 p.m. (Arizona time) on Tuesday, Aug. 6, to apply, according to a news release.
To apply, visit https://limitedhuntentry.azgfd.com/. The deadline is 5 p.m. (Arizona time) Tuesday, Aug. 6.
This opportunity isn’t the same as the state’s annual draws, which occur in February, June, and October. Instead, the state is offering these additional opportunities to generate revenue to help maintain current operations and decrease and/or eliminate the need to increase license and tag fees. The limited-entry permits won’t impact current management objectives for the species or areas offered.
Applicants can choose up to nine limited-entry tags on one application and pay a non-refundable fee ($13 for residents; $15 for nonresidents) for each selected hunt.
Lucky applicants will be contacted by AZGFD during the week of Aug. 12. You will need a valid Arizona hunting (or combo) license if you draw a tag. Payment will be due at the time of notification before the permit will be mailed.
