Just recently, Alaska has modified their statement made yesterday to close all spring bear hunts. The new rule will go into effect at 11:59 p.m. tonight April 2, 2020.
Restrictions have been lifted for Alaska resident black bear and brown/grizzly bear hunters. Nonresident hunters are still not permitted to hunt black bears or brown/grizzly bears in units 1-26. This restriction is in effect until 11:59 p.m. May 31, 2020 unless superseded by additional emergency orders.
The new rule is all spring bear hunts will be open to Alaska resident hunters only, but it will remain closed for nonresidents. You can read the full details here.
