The Argali Sawtooth knife on top compared next to the Carbon Knife
When it’s time to break down that bull or buck, you need to know your knife is going to perform well and do what you need it to do. You need a knife that will stay sharp, be comfortable, and controllable in any situation: hot, cold, wet, or dry.
One knife that hasn’t left my kill kit since 2019 is the Argali Carbon Knife. The Carbon Knife came out in 2019, and I used it on my first bull I had ever shot, and it performed great. The textured handle and ergonomic grip helped me control the wet knife in the freezing temps as we processed my bull deep into the night, and the blade stayed sharp throughout the entire process. I grew to really enjoy using the knife and have used it on three more elk and three deer since my first bull.
Argali has done it again with their newest addition to their knife lineup: the Argali Sawtooth Knife. As the largest bladed knife in the Argali collection, the Sawtooth has the excellent features I love about the Carbon Knife while boasting a modified skinning style blade and increased length, perfectly suited for butchering any big game animal, small or large.
The G10 grip is textured and ergonomic, allowing you to control the knife with ease. The jimping on the choil and spine of the knife also helps your hand from slipping when in wet and bloody conditions. I want to call out the nice choil pocket your index finger can set into, giving you full control of the knife.
Even though it’s slightly larger, the knife is still ultralight, coming in at 2.3 oz. The Sawtooth is made from Magnacut steel. Magnacut is incredibly durable and is less prone to chipping than most steels. For a longer-bladed knife like the Sawtooth, Magnacut is going to have great edge retention while not being so hard that you can't field sharpen it. Magnacut is also corrosion-resistant, making it a great option for a hunting knife.
With the longer blade, the Sawtooth is going to give you some more usability for at-home butchering or in the field if you like a longer blade for those longer and deeper cuts. Overall, this is a great new offering from Argali, and I’m excited to put it to use on my next big game animal.
