Without the aid of any human interference, Moose populations have been steadily growing in Nevada for several years now. Originally, moose began wintering in Nevada after coming from the neighboring states of Idaho and Utah. But, recent collar data has shown that the state now has a sizeable population of yearlong residents. Moose populations can be found scattered through Humboldt and Elko counties and have been spotted as far south as the Ruby Mountains. Most of the primary range will be found at the northern end of the hunting area near the Idaho border but moose could be encountered anywhere in the legal hunting range. With this being a young population, trophy potential is generally lower, but this is a very rare opportunity to take a Shiras bull in a new state.
