If you've ever used a mobile mapping app or GPS device, then you need to know how to move your hunting waypoint content around.
It takes just a few clicks and less than a minute to transfer your waypoints into GOHUNT Maps and your data will be seamlessly synced over to our mobile app— it's just as easy whether you have waypoints, tracks, lines, areas, or any other combination of them.
This process literally takes less than a minute! The beauty of the process is that you can transfer your waypoints from other sources using your mobile device or computer.
You can use your mobile device to import waypoints from other services to GOHUNT. This process is simple and very convenient. And doing this process from the palm of your hand literally takes only a minute.
When on your phone, navigate over to the mapping app from which you want to export your waypoints. Find their export function and make sure to select all of your waypoints and export that file to your phone.
Open the GOHUNT app on your mobile device and select "Hunts."
Once that drawer opens, you'll see an "Import" button on the right. Tap that.
You'll see that you can import either a .kml or .gpx file. Tap on "Select file" to open a menu where you can select the file of your exported waypoints.
Now, you'll need to select the file you exported from another mapping app and then tap on "Import."
Your waypoints will now start to process, and then a section will show up where you can confirm that you're uploading your waypoints to GOHUNT. Tap on "Confirm" to start the import saving process. Once that is finished, you'll see a section at the top of your app saying "Import successful!" and that's it!
If you prefer to use a computer, you can also easily import your waypoints from another mapping app to GOHUNT.
If you're more of a visual person, the video above walks through this simple process.
No matter where your files are coming from, the process is the exact same.
Start by making sure you are logged into your Insider account on your computer. Then click on Maps.
On the left portion of the screen will be a "Data Manager" button, which is the button with up and down arrows.
Click that Data Manager button highlighted in the above screenshot, and a toolbar will appear for Importing Files.
With the toolbar open, you can either drag and drop your .KML or .GPX file to that box, or just select it from your computer. You will then see your “Selected File” and the file size.
Now click on the orange “Upload” button.
Once the upload has been completed, scroll to the bottom of your feature list and click "Confirm."
You'll now see your completed import in your "Hunts" section, and they will appear on your map.
Now, you'll have access to all your imported waypoints. You can access them in your Content area or from the Hunt folder automatically created by your import. You'll also be able to instantly access this new import on your GOHUNT mobile app!
If you are using a different mapping application, such as onX:
That file will then be saved to your desktop or wherever you saved it on your computer. Then, you just need to open GOHUNT on your computer or mobile app and import that file.
Once you have Google Earth open, on the left toolbar you will see “Places.”
In that area, you probably have a folder with your waypoints, tracks, lines, etc.
To export your data, right-click on the folder and click “Save Place As.”
Now, you can name your export and the destination you want to save it to. It is typically best to save it to your desktop so you can easily find it.
Note: be sure to change the extension of the export to .KML.
Next click “Save,” and your files will be saved to your desktop.
There are times when you might want to export your content as an extra backup method. The process for this is very simple. Just use the bulk edit tool (the arrow at the top of the web version of GOHUNT) and then select the waypoints you want to export from a certain hunt.
Next just select "Export" and then you can select whether to export as a .GPX or .KML file.
If you’re an Insider, access to GOHUNT maps on the web and the mobile app is included in your Insider membership at no additional cost.
Once you become an Insider member, download the app for either iPhone or Android.
If you're an iPhone user, you can head over to the App Store and download the GOHUNT app. Android users can download the GOHUNT app here.
